As a research and dialogue-focused centre, the mission of CADL is to engage in dynamic programmes aimed at enhancing the understanding of the political, economic, security, and social challenges facing Africa. The role of diplomacy and leadership in facilitating change on the continent and globally are core aims of the centre

Facilitate constructive inter- and intra-continental dialogue among African and non-African scholars, civil society, and government officials from other regions.
Knowledge Production
Promote the determinants, substance, and dynamics of African national, continental, and global leadership and agency
Leadership
Identify and clarify issues and challenges pertaining to political, economic, security, and social spheres through African knowledge.
